I am concerned that other reproductive guests may not be this considerate. Ok, just one guest.
Kids are welcome. This is not a haughty affair. But I don't want a specific guest to leave her bratty children unattended during the festivities. Well, I don't want anyone's children to be bratty or unsupervised, but I'm focusing on one nearly surething for now. This guest is known for not tending to her kids, and they are NOT well behaved. Her children have already had run ins with my children at other functions. Miah and Trin heard the RSVP at school "They are coming with their mom to your wedding. What are we going to do!?!?!"
I could rant about these kids and their foul mouths, snotty attitudes and disruptive reputations, but I won't (ok, i am aware i did). Instead I need a gameplan.
1) Indicate no children on this guests invitation (even though other children are invited.)
2) Indicate child care not provided (but she thinks clearly thinks her children do not need supervision)
3) Talk to this friend about my concerns saying "I really hope people will mind their children. There will be adult beverages and hunting gear and a pond where they could disappear and drown...." *hint hint
4) Provide child leashes as party favors?

This is a tough one. Do you HAVE to invite the mother?
ReplyDeleteYes. She is in the group of school friends that are invited. She would be the only one "excluded." I can't do that.
ReplyDeleteIt is a tough one. My experience is that people like this don't get hints. Heck, the ones I know don't get it when I put it to them strongly.
ReplyDeleteOnce I was hosting a meeting at my house and a friend needed to bring her children. I knew they would be very disruptive so I hired a babysitter to keep them all quiet upstairs. Somehow, it actually worked out beautifully. I see you said no child care provided.
I support you in doing whatever works for you.
Do your other school friends have any suggestions? Have they had to deal with it?
Best luck with whatever you decide. It will be good fodder for blogging. XD
